[edit] How to Log into Linux in the Computer Science Lab for the First Time

  1. Enter your user name. Your CS user name is the following: the first letter of your first name, followed by the last 6 digits of your Banner ID, followed by the first letter of your last name. Ex: j345678p
  2. Enter your password. Your default password is your 6 digit birth date in this format: MMDDYY
  3. Optionally, before logging in, you can click session at the bottom of the screen and select a different window manager (Gnome, KDE, XFCE, etc.). These are all a matter of personal preference.

If you are a new student your account may not be active on the first day of class. Please ask for help if this is the case.

Please note the Computer Science Lab in Ross is available for Math and Computer Science Students only! Accounts are created each semester for students in CSCI 125 or higher, or MATH 200 or higher. All others will not be able to log in.
